- the World Heritage Exchange Trading System

WHETS is (currently under development) as a global timebank and time-based credit (₩) facilitating mutual aid among World Heritage stakeholders. By acknowledging that everyone has something to offer, WHETS realises assets that otherwise would lie dormant in people, communities and organizations.

WHETS is simple, free and based on the currency we all have: Time.

Earn ₩ by sharing your time and talents (1 hour = 1 ₩) and spend ₩ on assistance and/or services offered by others.

Opportunities to earn and spend ₩ are found in WHETS marketplace and Hub Store.

₩ circulate freely between individuals and organisations with a WHETS account willing to accept ₩ for their offers.

WHETS matches needs and skills of network members for potential exchange.

Through WHETS all members are valued and rewarded for their time, talents, skills, interactions and contributions.

WHETS values

 & inclusivity
We are all assets, with something to give or share. There shall be room and opportunities for everyone to support the ideals set out through the World Heritage Convention and in efforts building community.

Redefining work
Efforts that build community, raise healthy children, revitalize neighborhoods, sustain traditions, makes democracy work, advances social justice and makes the planet sustainable is valuable work. It needs to be honored and rewarded.

Capacity is built through collaboration and reciprocity. Instead of “How can I help you?” ask “How can we help each other build the world we all will live in?”

Social networks
Joined in shared purpose we are stronger than individuals. Helping each other, we reweave communities of support, strength & trust.

Every human being matters. Respect underlies freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and everything we value. Respect supplies the heart and soul of democracy. We must respect where people are in the moment, not where we hope they will be at some future point.

1. Register & create a profile

Set up a WHETS account through one of the stakeholder membership plans.

For mobile payments download the Cyclos app to your smart-phone, log into WHETS and create a shortcut to the home screen of your phone.

2. Create offers & requests

Identify what can offer to in your immediate neighborhood or to other members across the global community. Create an offer or preferably more, and decide how many ₩ (time credits) you will charge. 1 hour = 1₩, but if you include resources or have spent many hours in creating your offer, you may charge more.

3. Start exchanging & trading

In time-banking offering and giving is both equally valuable. Exchanges can be 1-1; 1-Many; Many-1; Many-Many.

All exchanges contribute positive ripple effects across communities, stakeholders and World Heritage stewardship.
